I think Godzilla mendoza said it best by saying these spiderman adaptations don't really adapt Peter Parker comics, they adapt other adaptations. with the lack of interest from these guys in the actual original sources we're just gonna keep seeing newer versions of spider-man that continue to sand off all his rough edges and complexities. no angst, no anger, no full range of emotions and negative personal qualities to work through like everyone else in the world and now no uncle Ben lmao

Honestly this version of Peter is just younger and more immature. He gets the lesson at the end of his trilogy after he’s grown up a little bit more. I think the “kid” Peter trilogy we just got was fun and lighthearted, which was a nice change of pace considering the previous two movie incarnations.

It’s one of the reason I can never fully respect MCU Spider-Man. A weak side cast, some okay characters, but never fully wanting to tap into the greatness of the comics and its drama. They couldn’t even utter Ben’s name in a meaningful manner.

Peter definitely doesn't blame himself for Uncle Ben's death, because Uncle Ben doesn't even exist in the MCU. Tobey is the first time he's even mentioned by name. He blames himself for AUNT MAY, and the result of that is the ENTIRE SETTING for Brand New Day. So it's not the Russo Brothers not understanding the character of Spider-Man, it's them not understanding the character CURRENTLY IN THE MCU ✌️😩
