I haven’t been into reality tv since the early-mid 2000s MTV’s the real world, but interesting to hear your nuanced perspective of feminism on the reality tv shows of today. What’s interesting to see these days is that the many people with whom I work, in particular the gen z-ers, rarely see or think of these nuances. And when I bring up these larger sociopolitical points to them, they often hit me with “it’s not that deep” or “you’re overthinking it”. Really?…then tell me why a pro Black woman movie like Princess and the Froflg has the star, a Black woman, animated as a green frog for 80% of the movie? Many Gen z who think they are get it don’t see how they are systematically being manipulated to think and feel a particular way about men and women and men-women dynamics
