Two years, two years… wow. Two years ago we were celebrating beating Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League, beating FC Barcelona 3-2 at home, drawing against FC Bayern Munich at their stadium, and then in the second leg celebrating how Joselu eliminated Bayern at home. Two years ago we were so happy. Nothing was better. We were in the UCL final, far ahead in La Liga, winning everything, Vinícius Júnior was in his prime, everything was perfect. And on June 1st everything was about to become even better. We won the UCL against Borussia Dortmund and later that night Real Madrid officially confirmed that Kylian Mbappé was joining the club. As a Real Madrid fan, I was in absolute delirium back then. Nothing and nobody could disappoint us. We knew Vinícius would win the Ballon d’Or, we had won the UCL, Mbappé was coming… what could possibly go wrong? And yet, two years later, everything has gone downhill. Whether it’s the curse of the black lines on the shirt, the coaches, the players, or just Mbappé himself, I don’t know what to say. But everything became much worse, and if someone had told me this exactly two years ago, I would never have believed it, not even in my worst nightmare. But this ended up being reality. Hala Madrid. And I know that one day we’ll lift that trophy again. It’s only a matter of time.
