I visited my aunt in the country every summer. She made me by hand outfits from flour sacks matching shorts and tops. 100 percent cotton in various flora prints.

I live off grid and save all fat for rendering. Back in the day I watched Survivor and Fat was the #1 calorie dense food that kept them going. You can buy pots online that have a strainer on top. Clean fat then collects below. When you have enough for a jar full slowly reheat all, strain and pour into the jar. Cap it, label, and keep in the fridge. It’s liquid gold.

Bacon grease needs no straining through cheese cloth. And it was always in a cup unrefrigerated by the stove. Seemed to never go bad.

In the 90’s my mom lived in low income housing and she wasn’t allowed to have a vegetable garden. So she grew tomatoes for the flowers and carrots for the greenery and such
