I don’t think people realize how exhausting it is to wake up every day feeling like nobody truly needs you. I try to act normal because I know people get uncomfortable when someone stays sad for too long, but inside I constantly wonder what’s wrong with me that makes everyone eventually leave. Every day feels the same — pretending I’m okay at school, laughing when I’m supposed to laugh, then going home and sitting alone with thoughts I can’t tell anyone because I don’t want to sound pathetic. The worst part is that I did have one person who made life feel different for a while. They made me feel seen instead of invisible, wanted instead of replaceable. When they talked to me, life felt lighter. I actually believed maybe there was something lovable about me. But now they’re gone, and it feels like they took that feeling with them. People say I’m young and I’ll meet other people, but they don’t understand that when you’ve been lonely for so long, one person caring about you becomes everything. Now I just feel empty all the time. No one waiting for my messages, no one checking if I’m okay, no one who would really notice how much I’m struggling. After a while, loneliness changes the way you see yourself. You stop wondering why you’re alone and start believing maybe you’re just hard to love. And honestly, I think that’s the part that hurts the most
