The First Attempt (1947): A Dutch-backed group called the Partai Rakyat Pasundan (PRP) declared a state in May 1947, but it failed because it lacked local support. They wanted to maintain Sundanese autonomy while remaining loyal to the broader Indonesian national cause. Diplomatic Role: Pasundan was one of the most influential members of the Bijeenkomst voor Federaal Overleg (BFO), the assembly of federal states that negotiated with both the Dutch and the Republic during the Round Table Conference in The Hague. 3. The Dissolution (Early 1950) The state's downfall was swift and violent, triggered by three main pressures: The APRA Coup (January 1950): Captain Raymond Westerling and his APRA forces (loyal to the Dutch) launched a bloody attack in Bandung.
