I don’t think Paula is evil or hates Agnes. Paula is just in survival mode. I think she’s so hard on Agnes because she wants her to be safe.

I think she reacted that way because Agnes marrying a high commander secures PAULA’S future. I can’t imagine there’s much need for elderly women in Gilliad and they’d probably just get sent off to the colonies once widowed, unless perhaps your daughter is the wife of an incredibly powerful commander….like we see in the handmaids tale with Serena joy and her mother. I think that’s why Paula called Agnes selfish.

Am I the only person who thinks Paula may be May Day or at least hasn’t totally submitted internally to Gilead? It’s hard to believe that they would overlook her past vocation and she had a lot to risk by telling Agnes that about herself. Maybe it’s just my pattern recognition (which doesn’t always lead to the correct answer), but I had the same thought about Aunt Vidalla and was right so idk, what do you guys thing

I love how human and complex the characters are in the series. the books are beautifully written but I don't mind any of the changes to these characters. would've loved to see the original daisy/Nicole plot play out on screen but I can't say I'm disappointed with the series so far
