@_reidolson_: When I was a kid, it felt like everyone else naturally understood how to act- but not me. I'd get in trouble, i'd piss people off, i'd get made fun of, and I really had no idea why- but I must say, I'm quite grateful for it now. If you suck at something, and you have to figure out how to get good at it, you actually learn the principles that make you good at it.

In all honesty, I dropped the idea of trying to learn what was only humiliating, and since I was unable to do those sorts of things, I decided to branch out in my own direction, it was always quiet with so few friends, so I began introspection, and today I’m a poet.

when I was in school, I played saxophone. and it was all fun and good but I started trying to be a more competitive player in high school even though I didn't have natural talent. I had a friend who was two grades below me who had natural talent and it was way ahead of his grade level and playing (he's working on his doctorate in music performance now). I also auditioned for region band three times and never made it. those two things led me to the realization, "for everything I do there's someone other that can do it better so why bother?" and that's really what ended my music career long before I ever realized it did.
