@murexresorts: A regular little drummer! Check out this cool little Orangutan Crab, sitting happily aloft its bubble coral home. The orangutan crab (Achaeus japonicus) is a small, fascinating species of decorator crab found in the Indo-Pacific, especially around coral reefs. It gets its name from the dense covering of fine, hair-like structures (setae) on its body, which resemble the shaggy fur of an orangutan. These crabs are known for their unique behavior of attaching pieces of sponge, algae, or other marine debris to their bodies using hooked bristles, helping them blend into their surroundings and avoid predators. Typically slow-moving and well-camouflaged, orangutan crabs spend much of their time among corals, where they feed on small organic particles and plankton. #scuba #travel #divetheworld #divelife #underwatervideo
