@mrsrosario17: Still sharing you how I started and what keeps me going and how the industry works. I started without prior experience. Just ideas since I was surrounded by people around me. They told me to "research". So, I started researching some tutorials on YT and tiktok. Gladly many content creators are sharing free guides. I always keep notes about everything I learned. Started with what my previous experience is. Admin Assistant. I can handle emails, organize files, create basic graphic design, data analysis with excel. Then I created resume, signed up on OLJ, Upwork, Linkedin and other online job platforms. Then BOOM, got overwhelmed. Because when you started browsing jobs, you will realize there are tools you need to learn. They are more niches and roles to explore. You will always be eager to learn. Rejections comes always. It's normal in the industry. Just like you, I sent bunch of applications with no response. Attended to several interviews and ghosted. Tried to question myself what I really need to do. It took me 8 months to land a client because I was never consistent in the beginning. I know many people will relate. Many of us think this is just a simple "side hustle." Then, a company hired me even without prior experience. I was hired as an Admin Assistant. My spreadsheet skills and able to analyze data for reporting got me hired. That company gave me the premium experience. No time tracker. Paid US holidays after 90 days. Got a raise after 90 days then another raise after 6 months and after a year. With birthday bonus, anniversary bonus even wedding gifts. But my contract ended - YES. Who would have thought? Yes, that is the reality. A client can't let go of you in just one snap. Things I learned, keep on researching. Don't stick with what you know. The industry is evolving. For 2 years, I already had 9 clients. Full-time, one time projects and just part-time. I did that not because I know everything, but I want to experience different roles. Some are premium clients, some are toxic. On my 1st year of freelancing, I even work on weekends. Sleep for just 4 hours a day just to be what I am now. It was God helped me through all of that. I am still learning and always learning. But my tip for you is always be a proactive VA. Don't wait for instructions. When instructions are unclear, ask again. Especially when sales is involved. Always research how you can solve your client's problem. Discover tools that can help the business workflow. Be organized. Use project management tools. Always know what tasks need to be prioritized. Maximize your time discovering different tools and softwares. Be a PREMIUM VA to attract PREMIUM CLIENTS. To the people I've helped and learned from my FREE VA RESOURCES, thank you for being a part of my journey. To my mentors, I owe you a lot. To those who are still searching for their first client, wait for your time. Make your resume optimized, if you can create your own portfolio. Add sample works. Practice and practice for interviews. Clients don't need perfect grammar. Conduct a thorough research for possible questions. Research about the company prior to the interview. When the client knows you have idea about their company, they can see you are eager to work with them. Highlight your skills and how you can help them. Be confident with what you can offer. And when the time comes you are already hired, give it your best shot. When you are tired, remember how you started.
