another detail that seems to be glossed over is that asami is a hopeless romantic. she's very mature and sure of what she wants but at the same time she seem to romanticized her relationship with mako which in turn caused her to be naive. the sudden meet cute, setting up the date, leaning on his shoulder, kissing him when she was feeling vulnerable etc. none of these are bad things per se but they feel less like a real relationship and more like a cliche from a romance novel. it makes you wonder if maybe that's the extent of her experience, shes a shelter rich kid so it wouldn't be far fetched if maybe her standards come from novels rather than past dates. she loves love and shes someone who wants to be able to confide in others, unfortunately that keeps getting taken advantage of. you can also see the stark difference between book 2 and 4 where she matures and realizes that life isn't a fairytale

I'm literally a gay man but they genuinely mean so much to me, like they make me tear up and CRY! it used to be so hard to have ANYTHING that was even remotely queer especially in animation. So many creators had to FIGHT to have anything kept in which made it easier for others to portray any of us in the long run. I was never super into tlok when it first came out, but even I knew about them and appreciated them. They did insane things for queer representation and I'm so glad they got their happy ending together. 🥹🥹 They're so cute and people forget how awesome they are.

Omg how is it that I didn't realise or see anything between them?? And I even payed attention in s3 and 4 to see if they have any romantic-ish moment but I didn't see any only when Korra blushed at Asami's compliment about her hair in s4😭 To this day, bc of this, I don't really care about them, but I accept that they're a couple and I must agree, they're cute in the comics but I just don't see the vision😅

I think Mako was a good advicer for Korra too, but he came at a time when she still wasn't ready to listen. she argued with him on everything he said even if he had a good point, and he cared more about his job and position than being helpful to the avatar, and eventually he grew tired of arguing. Asami however had a different Korra to give advice to, Korra went through a major shift in her spirituality, it helped her listen more. thank you for this analysis! it really gave me a new perspective on the relationships in Korra, it's still very hard for me to watch lol but I understand how teen love is messy

just one thing that I like and i wanted to add, in the conversation that Asami and Mako had on the kitchen Asami is being very mature and having a healthy conversation about the topic, Mako redirects and acts angry, also tries to blame Bolin (because of the kiss with Korra, Mako assumed that Bolin told Asami) and Asami immediately defends Bolin and bring the conversation back to the topic, Asami the woman you are

I loved watching korrasami developing...I didn't even know it was happening until it finally happened, it was just thought, a hope and then a realisation that they were right for eachother...nothing forced..no agenda.. it was a eureka moment then a "duhh" moment...and a core memory for me. 🫡

they mean so much to me, I didn't watch the show until 2021 or smth and at the time I myself was struggling to realize I'm bi and I can't even put into words how much Korra and Asami actually being together by the end of it meant to me (and still does), and getting to re-watch the show knowing that was so so so special, I love them😭 and this analysis of their relationship was so good, tysmm!
