they fullfilled the oath and so it wouldnt fit into Aragons character to not release them

they fulfilled their oath, which was why they were cursed in the first place. if aragorn hadn't released them thw same curse would happen to him

I didnt like the ending in the films, seemed like a really cheap, simple, anti climatic ending. I havent read the ending in the books? How do they defeat the orc army?

Why didn’t they use the eagles to fly straight to Mordor from Rivendell at the beginning of the quest?

In the film it is very obviously implied that they would not attack any further, and that if Aragorn tried to make them, they could easily have turned on the men of the West instead for breaking their own oath. This isn’t a plot hole. In Tolkien’s work “oaths” aren’t just pinky promises.

In the extended edition Aragorn releases them since they fulfilled their oath and they moved on.

Movie logic is that the closer the army of the dead got to Mordor, the higher the risk they would fall to Saurons influence

actually Peter Jackson actually considered it and made a scene where if u remember correctly gimli says that they could use the army's going forward but Aragorn wanted to keep his promise and he freed the ghosts since they fulfilled their oath

ngl the books make it seem even more confusing, ur telling me they were here because of their oath and them fulfilling their oath only meant they had to scare the enemy when the king of Gondor calls for their help?💀💀💀💀💀💀 it made more sense in the movies i mean yea i asked myself the same question when i watched that movie today but realistically they didn't sign up to go to mordor their oath only said they had to help defend gondor

if that's true then why did the hundred King even tried to strike down Aragon and if he wasn't going to do any damage then why would Aragon even try to defend?

It isn't a plot hole in the movies though. Their deed was done and he's a man of his word.

Ye a bit disappointed. It looked like a cheat code. Rohan would not even need to attack just wait for those things

Book version way better, the movie ghosts were OP and made the Rohan charge pointless
