Season 1 of BTV was honestly quite boring as well - producers would likely call this season a higher win given the amount of conversation starters. PPG was enjoyable and calm but that doesn’t really make interesting TV and does not start conversation. I fully expect to see more BTV’s closer to this one than the PPG era.

I actually think they did a great job with the season 😅. If everyone got along and were compatible, we’d all find it boring and wouldn’t tune in. This is what reality TV is. Conflict, villains, entertainment, PERSONALITY etc.

I love this take and your ability to put it into words. S7 was weird in that it felt like ppl were forcing friendship and forcing relationships but I separated it instead of seeing none of them at all were compatible. I think, if they were, Amaya would've been like S5 Bergie. He was an underdog but he didn't win because there were actual couples at the end that ppl connected to

You know, I was gonna argue the opposite. But analyzing all my friends (former and current). I’ve got to say, friendships to some are based on social capital. And idk if it’s due to the internet influencing people’s lives. But people want to show their worth through proximity of others (we see that with “Jerry”). Granted I knew “Jerry” was a clout chaser from the jump but thats besides the point. However, I don’t think this behavior is specific to Gen Z, (I’m an older Gen Z) and he realize that this is just how people operate as a whole. It’s just more noticeable in Gen Z because of the social media access. However, there’s a song called “1985” by a band called Bowling for soup and they mentioned this exact thing going on 20 years ago.
