things in my sephora cart 🛒👀 | aestura atobarrier365 foaming cleanser — i want to love you but $29 for a cleanser?? sephora cart series continues and today we are talking the @AESTURA atobarrier365 gentle ph-balancing foaming cleanser. and if you know me, you know i already love the atobarrier cream. HOOOLY GRAIL. so this cleanser has been sitting in my cart calling my name. 📳 but let's talk brand context first because if you know, you know. 👀 aestura is under the amorepacific umbrella — which for those not aware is one of the largest korean beauty conglomerates out there. they own sulwhasoo, laneige, innisfree, cosrx, etude and more. the same way a lot of western brands trace back to L'Oreal or Estee Lauder, a LOT of kbeauty traces back to amorepacific. and if you've heard some of the more problematic allegations around the parent company? i won't get into the full details here but i encourage you to do your own research. this is your friendly reminder that do as you will with that information, but it's worth being an informed consumer. i'm personally still on the fence. i love aestura as a brand but i sit with some conflict. 🤷‍♀️ now — the cleanser itself. the atobarrier cream is already a holy grail for me regardless of what happens with anything else. and the formula on this cleanser passes almost every test i look for. fragrance free ✅ hypoallergenic ✅ dermatologist tested ✅ ceramides, glycerin, green tea ✅ ph of approximately 6.0 ✅ and the fact that it comes out pre-foamed meaning zero lathering needed to minimize friction and skin irritation? genuinely thoughtful design for sensitive skin. 🫧 but here's my problem with foaming cleansers. every single time i've tried one — even gentle ones marketed for sensitive skin — they've been too stripping for me. the only one that's been even remotely okay has been the @etudeofficial soonjung foaming cleanser and even that depends on the day. oilier day? fine. drier day? still a smidge too much. and i've tried sample sizes from friends, testers at counters — consistently too stripping across the board. 😩 i'm currently testing the yam cleanser from @ISNTREE US and i also have the @imfrom_us rice whip cleanser in my cleansing rotation — and the spoiler is neither of them feels like THE one yet. i don't know if my holy grail cleanser even exists on the market right now and that is a mildly distressing realization. 😔 the pre-foamed format here is interesting though — it reminds me of the soonjung etude foaming cleanser i've used before. the idea of minimal friction and touchless cleansing does genuinely appeal to me as someone reactive. but my concern is how it performs near the end of the bottle. i struggled to use up the soonjung one fully and at $29 CAD i need every single drop of product. 💸 also worth noting — the brand themselves say this is best used as a SECOND cleanser since foam-type mild cleansers may not fully remove sunscreen. so add micellar water (i recommend the @BIODERMA pink one!) or an oil cleanser before this — which is actually how i'd use it anyway. the process being: micellar water first, this second. makes sense for me. but $29 for a cleanser. i keep coming back to that. if this was under $20 it would already be in my bathroom. the price point is the wall between me and this purchase right now. 🚫 has anyone tried this? drop your honest unsponsored thoughts below. sensitive and dry skin girlies especially — i need to hear from you. 👇 #aestura #amorepacific #wishlist #kbeauty #sensitiveskin
