Homemade OM654 Tool - I Saved €300 on Engine Repair. • How I saved €300 while disassembling a Mercedes OM654 engine. Today I’ll show you a simple example of how an expensive special tool can sometimes be replaced with a homemade solution. • On the Mercedes-Benz OM654 engine, the oil pump also serves as the vacuum pump and is installed deep inside the engine block. It is positioned very tightly, making removal difficult without the correct tool. • Mercedes provides a special factory puller for removing this pump, but the tool costs approximately €300.
