@harry_md5: I am absolutely fed up with Democrats who say progressive things in public while serving corporate interests behind the scenes. At the candidate forum in Charles County the other night, voters got a very clear contrast. My opponent - Oracle lobbyist Adrian Boafo - talked about working with Republicans like he did as a state delegate in Annapolis. And look, maybe there are still a handful of Republicans at the state level who aren’t completely insane, but MAGA at the Federal level isn't a normal political movement; it is a white supremacist authoritarian movement that openly attacks democratic institutions and the rule of law itself. This forum was held by the local chamber of commerce, and I warned the business owners in attendance of how quickly we’re sliding into an autocratic system like Russia where success becomes impossible without special connections to a mafia-like regime. That's the road we're quickly heading down. That's not something I'm interested in “compromising” with. I understand the moment we're in and I'm willing to confront it honestly instead of hiding behind empty bipartisan talking points. For too long, Democratic leadership convinced themselves that institutions would protect us from Trump, all while lobbyists and consultants hollowed out the party’s connection to working people. That mentality is how we got into this mess in the first place. We need Democrats willing to actually fight for working people, democratic institutions, and the future of this country.
