If it were possible for it to be 100% kids and no predators I’d be all for it. Maybe if it’s run by their schools but predators could still get the login info through kids they talk to. I want to adopt a kid sometime in the future and I’d let them have social media as long as they’re old enough for the site’s TOS, but only if they’re transparent with me about it. Not in a forcing them to show me way which is very unhelpful but an agreement that they’ll be honest and it’ll be taken away under certain circumstances. And I’ll be clear that if something happens I won’t get mad and they can come to me for help, plus teaching them about safe and unsafe interactions and actual reasons why some stuff isn’t appropriate for them. I was never properly taught the dangers of social media and the internet generally and got into a lot of shit. I’m glad I wasn’t overly sheltered but I definitely should’ve been taught better. There should be a good balance between communication, education, controlled freedom, and trust. I was a lot less stupid and rebellious online when my parents stopped putting hard restrictions on my online activity and just wanted me to reach out for help if needed.

yeah i agree the internet used to have a kid’s side something like club penguin and animal jam was just that and that doesn’t really exist anymore and i feel like that wont work anymore anyway cause how big the internet is now
