This dress is based off of Madame X. That woman was obsessed with being famous. So the painting was given an anonymous name. Yes she was trolled.

If I didn’t know who she was I’d say she looks fine. Was it the most outstanding look of the night? No. But it represents the painting well and it’s an “old Hollywood” vibe.

My problem with the look is that, if you have chosen that portrait, don’t make it look cheap. It’s a beautiful painting and she could have followed it without looking overblown.

100% Agreed. She looks great in this. I think the dress maker is supposedly known for some wild iconic looks and some fashion folks are saying she got trolled, 🤷🏻♀️.. she looks great in this.

It might be worth going down the rabbit hole on this dress. My understanding is that the dress is based on the Jon singer Sergeant painting “Madame X“ 1884. Back then the dress was considered scandalous and broke reputations of both the artist and the subject. My understanding is that today, the dress is a massive troll to harken the same reaction for Sanchez-Bezos. The subject of the 1884 painting was known to be gaudy, demanding, and extremely egocentric. I kind of want this all to be true, because if it is, it’s brilliant.
