I got the annual “we are having a BBQ to celebrate your mom on Mother’s Day.” And I got so angry (maybe it’s the postpartum hormones). Like I love my mom but she got her Mother’s Day while raising us kids, isn’t it now my turn to have Mother’s Day for me? I have 4 kids and have never been able to have Mother’s Day for ME.

I’m 35 weeks pregnant this wkend. I told my hubby, I’m not seeing my mom. I’m just going to rest. And he asked about his mom. And I said “honey please go see your mom”. I think he thought WE would lol but no. I shall be doing ✨ nothing ✨

My MIL is visiting and she is an activity person. My husband said he will take her and our daughter out for a day so I can veg on the couch and play video games all day. Winning 🥰

I’m the grandma- I want the grandkids with me while mama takes a long break! As long as she wants, I just want to play with my grandbaby because I have the blessing of not having any of the multitude of responsibilities that my daughter in law has to fight. I told her that since it’s her first Mother’s Day, she can tell everyone to eff of and leave her alone if that’s what she wants!

When my SIL had my niece in early November of 22, we had their family over for Thanksgiving and I put fresh sheets on the bed and they slept all evening. I’d bring baby up to nurse and then spirit her away for diaper changes. Obviously I had her permission, but they were SO tired and the nicest thing I could do was send them to bed.

I have 2 requirements for Mother's Day: I will not cook and I will not plan anything. I do not need to go out to dinner, spaghetti will work and I don't have to go anywhere. truly, I am completely fine staying home. But do not ask me where do you want to eat nor what do you want to do?

I realized that I've never been actually celebrated on mother's day. People say "Happy mothers day" to me, but nothing has ever been planned or done.

Mother's Day for me is a meal, a movie, and shopping alone while my husband is home with kids. My own Mom will get a call (lives several states away). I do reciprocate and Dad gets the same on Father's Day.
