@emilyt_therapy: A 2025 study suggests AI may help support therapy, particularly through psychoeducation, emotional support, coping skills, and immediate accessibility. Researchers found many users reported feeling “connected,” “relieved,” and emotionally supported when using ChatGPT for mental health support. The article also highlights that ChatGPT often provided more detailed, structured, and context-rich responses than human therapists because it was not simultaneously managing real-time relational dynamics like pacing, emotional attunement, or transference. At the same time, both the article and research emphasize major limitations: AI cannot replicate human attachment, nuanced relational dynamics, intuition, or the therapeutic relationship itself. Current evidence suggests AI may function best as a supplemental tool alongside human therapists rather than a replacement. —————————————————————- #therapistsontiktok #clinicalresearch #ai #chatgpt #therapytiktok

My therapist has been awesome about this and recommended I use AI between sessions so that I feel like I can sort through emotion then talk about resolves with him.. I think the two together will significantly reduce, cost and duration of therapy.

I appreciate this. AI isn’t going anywhere so we need to talk about it and research how it will impact our work both negatively and positively.

With my personal experience, therapists are usually just focused on the logistical ways and like there’s no relation I don’t feel any connection and it makes it really hard for me to want to go back after having a bad experience with therapy and with ChatGPT you can kind of coach it to be empathetic towards your certain struggles, but I know that’s probably because either A.I wasn’t open minded enough towards my past therapists or B.they weren’t right for me or just not good therapist in general, but it’s really discouraging to go back especially when again with my personal experience I struggle with anxiety and social anxiety and mood swings

I appreciate this! I’m apprehensive about clients/people using it as a diagnostic tool for themselves. In my experience, it is not reliable for that at all

does human attachment and relationship matter all that much in highly structured modalities like CBT or DBT. seems like AI could effectively do those 2 things very well with fine tuning.
