I don't wear makeup, only shower if I have to leave the house, but my nails are always on point because I dip them myself every two weeks. it's my me time, it's what I do for myself, I don't do it for anyone else, I think it's pretty and fun and creative, PERIODT.

i love ripped clothes & my dad is a mechanic & worked at many clothing companies and he hated distress denim, he would always say “i work hard & you want to dress like your homeless!?” it’s absolutely a thing!!! growing up we also weren’t allowed to ever leave the house without brushing hair or leave in pajamas/sweats (we’re hispanic)

I thought she was talking about “in style” in terms of the fashion industry. Also I think they are still getting manicures just not gels, acrylics or paint. (Like a Japanese manicure) I don’t think that’s neglect or lack of hygiene. I thought her commentary about how when everyone starts doing something the higher up people in the fashion industry will try to do the opposite to seperate themselves from the majority was interesting. I think that they do in fact do that. They start a trend to be different, people follow then they flip it to be different again and people will follow again. Then they will do something else.
