Chase Woods, protected by the @Nature Conservancy of Canada is one of these vital forests. It also happens to be home to one of British Columbia's most endangered ecosystems: the Coastal Douglas-fir forest. These dry maritime forests once covered much of southeastern Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, and the Lower Mainland. Today, less than 1% of old-growth remains intact across the entire province. With increasing development and logging pressures, protecting places like Chase Woods is more important than ever.
