As a Virginian this is disappointing as well as heartbreaking. If my vote didn’t count in this election, what guarantee do I have it will count in the midterms? Or any other future Election?!

Small correction- the TN seat isn’t currently held by a black legislator BUT the current rep is a dem who has served Memphis and the residents there for many years AND he was being challenged in the primary by a very strong and inspiring black state legislator, Justin Pearson. The TN state GOP legislators did not even take the time to listen to the state reps in the district they redrew nor did they actually go into their districts to talk to their voters about this. There was a poll that said over 70% of TN voters from both parties did not want this. They passed the new maps anyway. In less than a week from the SCOTUS decision. It was against our state law and state constitution. They changed the law and passed it over 3 days. Rules be damned, voters’ wishes be damned and morality be damned.

If people voting for Republicans are winning they haven't seen what isn coming for them. The Republican party has been working for the rich and if poor Republicanvoters think they r safe they have not looked at this country's history. Coming for black people is step one, coming for poor white people may be the last but it will come.

if democrats redrew the lines in their favor, we would have another Jan 6th incident on our hands. don’t let this discourage you. it’s estimated that democrats still have a very high chance of winning the house majority in this years midterms. THATS why this is happening, they are scared. TN has a lot of work to do to get out of the 9-0 republican delegation, but democrats have the advantage in most states right now. can things be reversed or changed when democrats become the majority? YES. do we have to wait ten years for the lines to be redrawn? no. this is why, if you can, you NEED TO VOTE. you cannot sit around and think every like minded individual around you will also be voting, convincing yourself that it’s okay if you don’t prioritize it. way too many people have the mentality of “they got it”. you cannot complain if you don’t want to help the change. we also have to remember, there are a TON of republicans in red states who do not agree with this administration. i have seen many reds online say they would vote blue if that’s what it takes to get the bad guys out. GO. VOTE.

Let me tell you about Tennessee. I’m in that district they split up and that is the district in Clarksville that almost went blue in the special election. That was the first of the blue wave starting. It had no right being as close as an election as it did so if they split our county which they literally split it among streets, your neighbors have different districts. It may stay blue because Memphis is blue and we are damn close to staying blue.
