Chu Wanning still chose to be good despite never being obligated to be a person in the first place, and that is fundamentally a different kind of purity. (though yes, he was raised with Huaizu's care) He was made to be a vessel, a product from his master's past mistakes, means to an end, a solution to someone else's guilt. He could have remained exactly that, an empty shell, a perfect puppet, a thing without resilience. Instead, he became someone who could look at another person's suffering and think,
"I will carry this with you". No one programmed that into him. No one required him to grieve. No one demanded that he sacrifice pieces of himself over and over again until there was nothing left for himself. He simply did. His grace is quiet, he doesn't make loud speeches or proclaims justice. He just lives it. He bears everything even after his body breaks.
Chu Wanning is like pure, clear and unclouded jade, because jade is formed under immense pressure, buried for ages, enduring heat and force until it emerges with a quiet luster that cannot be manufactured. He has suffered humiliation, violence, misunderstanding, loneliness, and grief. Yet, whenever someone reaches out, he still reaches back without demanding for the world to understand him or have gratitude, simply because someone needs help.
