Kovu is adopted by Zira who was Scar’s mate (not even sure if it’s canon she was his mate, it’s possible that never was a thing and she was happy following him) in a sense when he was alive but he never cared for her, it was one sided obsession. Zira took Kovu in way after Scar’s death, he was never Scar’s son 😮💨 at least I think so

why do we care if they are related they are lions and yes Kovu is very clearly Scars son. They re-wrote some basic voicelines to make it less weird.
