I have PMDD too! It can be really scary, but there is hope. I’m currently on birth control to manage it, but therapy can help as well as just being aware of your cycle.

Sertraline has been life changing for my generalized anxiety disorder. I’ve been on it off and on for 15 years. it doesn’t completely take it away, as it’s something I’ll have to deal with for the rest of my life, but it actually makes it manageable so i can enjoy life. Best of luck on your journey, you’re not alone 🫶🏻

if you think of it like a number scale, depression is the negative, numb is zero, content is positive numbers, numb is moving in the right direction

The fact you know your symptoms is key. And far more mature than most your age. PMDD is real. Keep trusting your gut. I struggled with the same. I see you.

Oh dear, oh dear. You are so nice to share your journey with everyone! My heart goes out to you ... I was finally diagnosed with depression/anxiety in 2000... at age FORTY FIVE... You can imagine having three children and living overseas, I'd been through some experiences and while I enjoyed most of them, after two years in Florida, then moving to Alaska... it only took five years to determine that SO many things that were wrong with me were actually "normal" mental health issues ... know what I mean? We're not *ABnormal* because lots of people experience what we've been through. But when we FINALLY get it figured out (or are in the process of figuring it out) it sounds like we're totally off the rails. Life keeps on going, and we'll still have ups and downs, but these medications are necessary (and thankfully available) for us to function at full capability. I was probably on Setraline for 10 years, then was changed to Duloxetine when diagnozed (finally) with Fibromyalga, and Pregabalin was introduced, along with Wellbutrin. Then came the ADHD diagnosis and my life FINALLY got on track in time for "mentalpause" (menopause). I have to laugh -- the merry go round of life has had some dragging nags to ride, but at last I am (more or less) balanced, as long as I take my meds as directed. I'm SO glad you're getting help while you are younger! Kiddo, I HATE taking pills, but stay disciplined with it -- the results are worth it. Happy hopes for every tomorrow to be rosy for you! I love your story and all you share. I think you are brave!

I take Prozac (fluoxetine) and it helps so much. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression when I was in grade twelve and before I started my medication my anxiety and depression was so bad. I still struggle with it but being on medication has really helped

You described everything that I went through taking these medications. I can’t believe I’m not the only one. Every PMDD symptom you said happen two weeks before my period. The anxiety from two weeks and leading up to my period is so bad. You are not alone!!

I’m so sorry. I have PMDD and it is so difficult to deal with. The depression disassociation before your period is awful.
