@talk8bit: The conversation about individualism and collectivism is highly discussed by theorists, but we should bring these discussions to daily life! these two concepts totally permeate our life to a point that it’s our norm, and i argue that THAT is exactly when we should be analyzing things. Why are these our norms? What about them is truly normal, and questioning if they SHOULD be our norms? What once served us well in the past might not be what helps us most in the future, and I argue that hyper-individualism is one of these things. As we watch our neighbors and community members be abducted from our streets and local businesses, the are relying on COMMUNITY support. Not individual support they they are providing to themselves, because our justice system doesn’t even see them as individuals. That’s the problem. It is a moral duty to help those in need, and if you think otherwise, perhaps some reevaluation is necessary. #individualism #politics #publicspeaking
