I’m really hoping that Sage is being manipulative and pretending to be shocked in front of the boys even though she knew damn well that Homelander was going to get the V1. If that wasn’t the case then the episode makes no sense. She was told specifically by back Ashley that soldier boy was opening up to Homelander. The only thing left behind in that room is the one thing that would have let Homelander know she was behind things. This episode only makes sense if you assume that it was actually a plot to get soldier boy on homelander’s side

I agree, in what world would the smartest person in the world not have a contingency for a gamble that she found was necessary. While I disagree with most that sages plan was bad. (I think everything logically tracks and the taco bell receipt is her goading homelander and did not harm her plan). The fact that she has no backup plan to ensure that solider boy gives her the v1 (or destroys it). Is just straight up bad writing. The smartest person in the world who had be shown to understand that humans while predictable can be fickle didnt have a contingency for the most important part of her plan. And this is why its better to not write a villain with super duper intelligence if the plot isnt fueled by their plan.
