Mercedes has been installing these since the early '80s, along with many other Europeans doing the same. Not all water fluid is the same, and some people prefer to just use water. his cars were designed to be comfortable and efficient in ALL climates, which means most if not all have the element. And it's extremely rare for them to fail, although a newer systems they are using cheaper assemblies which breaks my heart as an enthusiast. Thankfully, Mercedes recently spoke about bringing the quality back to their vehicles. (and the v8s)

I fixed this issue multiple times, is not the windshield fluid container, is the plastic line that goes from the firewall heater hose that connects to the windshield fluid container. Those little plastic hoses seem to be very low quality and not rated for coolant 😅

Again saving the dumb people from themselves, you should have washer fluid regardless, especially if you live in a cold climate because that heating system won’t help if the car has been sitting in freezing temperatures over a weekend

MB has this Heating System for Washerfluid since the 80's It's very usefull im harsh winters. The fluid it self hast a freecing temp of -40°C, but sprayed Out of the washerjets, IT will freece in yout windsheld realy quick.

that's so weird. Volkswagen puts them in the washer nozzles themselves, and makes them electric instead of coolant-based. that seems to make more sense.
