The point of the banana clip was the long curved shape created kind of a Mohawk style ponytail up the back of your head. It worked great for fine hair, typically thicker hair would pop it open. They did eventually make stronger ones for thicker hair. The trick was to add product if hair is too slippery and some texture beforehand. It looked really good on hair that had waves or curls, and hair that was a bit layered. The girls with thicker hair were teasing it and wearing it down or doing side ponies and stuff. The banana clips gave the finer haired girls a way to participate in the big hair craze. My mom wore hers when she got home from work or was working out.

I’ve actually searched for a tiny banana clip for the past like 4 years!! My hair is fairly long and not super thin but those regular ones are HUGE. Might as well be used for a horses mane
