@fieldsolver: We use the scalar wave equation to simulate the focusing of an incoming plane wave into a point by a parabolic mirror. The wave is focused into the parabola's focus after reflecting off its surface. At that point, we invert the wave's velocity to see the process be perfectly reversed, transforming the point source into a plane wave. This is the principle behind parabolic antennas both for receiving and emitting signals. The domain is a square of size 1x1 with absorbing boundaries in the vertical direction to prevent the wave from leaving. The wavelength is chosen to be λ=0.05, the pulse width s=0.20=4λ and c=1. We chose dt=1e-3. #physics #mathematics #calculus #differentialequations #visualization #simulation #numericalmethods #waves #wave #parabola #parabolas #antenna

What type of finite differences did you use, forward/central/backward? What solution method was used to solve the discretized equation?
