Ashita no Joe has a really annoying fanbase—just look at the comments. Joe’s development as the protagonist is one of the best I’ve ever seen, especially toward the end, but it’s far from being the best sports anime or manga. Ashita no Joe isn’t as faithful to boxing as Hajime no Ippo; boxing in Ashita no Joe is mostly used to develop Joe as the protagonist, but it doesn’t cover techniques and isn’t as accurate as Hajime no Ippo.
