Burn worlds are essentially self-sustaining, the flood could theoretically thrive until quite possibly the heat death of the universe after assimilating every possible galaxy (which in itself would take countless eons)

the flood is a hateful reaction, expressly stated as a punishment on all life that isnt flood for the sins of the forerunners, there doesnt need to be an endgame. however theyre still precoursers at the end of the day, they had lived, died, and repeated an untold number of times across billions of years, eventually always coming back to their prime: traveling across the universe and accelerating the growth of intelligent life. I think once revenge is complete, they would simply continue that cycle in some form or another

That’s the thing tho the flood hates the rings bc they RESEED life there’s a theory that the flood wanted on the rings to destroy the seeds to stop the reseeding of life as thier goal is absolute combination of all considering they are derived from gods the theory is that the precursors are still flood seeking revenge on its creations within the Milky Way yet the Graceland helps chief and arby stop the firing of the rings n you’d think yeah that’ll help the foods goal of killing everything but it doesn’t as the rings will reseed again as seen through halo with the seed banks something I don’t think we’ve seen the flood around therefore maybe the forerunners changed the code for the rooms to ensure the flood can’t enter but others could idk

People really just be ignoring the name, they are the flood. Nothing stops them, not nature, not time, not distance, and certainly not consuming everything. That is literally their goal, and to quote the flood by Dietz, “the horde really came for him then, climbing up over the bodies mounded in front of them, careless of casualties, willing to pay whatever price he required”

but what about any constructs that are infected woth logic plagues? and would the Gravemimds exterminate lifeforms that can't be consumed? like the Lekgolo cant be assimilated like other races can.

I think "starve" has always been a flawed way to look at the Flood. They don't actually eat the biomass added, they become part of its collective existence. it would not starve for it would just be everything in perpetuity
