Without further ado, meet Fresca Marie ❤️ this little love ball is eveything the word perfect means. The simple fact that she is alive right now still will bring tears to my eyes immediately. I can’t event tell her story without getting super choked up. SHE is a fighter. She was literally being born in front of us to her wild mom, who had been sold to a horse trader during the auction as already having a foal on her side. In reality, she was pregnant about to give birth and all the babies were nursing from her. Her mom went into labor and the foal was literally stuck with her feet going the wrong direction. In the wild they would have both died. I’ve never pulled so hard in my entire life as I did that day. Watching that baby suffocate was horrifying. Seeing her gums going purple was the most helpless I’ve ever felt. Ive only ever pleaded to God that hard one other time in my life - I need her to live. Please just let me get her out. With my arms up to my elbows up inside the mom grabbing the babies knees, I told @miquell to squeeze her hands under mine up under my wrists so I could get more leverage. Then I just had to bury my knees up against her and pull. She gave an inch which meant i was getting somewhere. The mom contracted and I pulled again. She contracted a second time and I pulled again with the baby sliding out into my lap and onto the ground. Then her umbilical cord wouldn’t stop pouring blood so another lady ran over and help it shut until it clotted and stopped. Now the baby needed colostrum which the mom did not have any because of nursing other babies all weekend, plus the mom was too weak to stand. We immediately got them both into a trailer and taken to the hospital so that they could start treating both individually to give them the best chance of survival that we could. Unfortunately, Gilly, her mom, died about 30 hours into her hospital stay of liver and kidney complications. 😩 Little Fresca is thriving - against every single and all odds she is alive and doing so well! She is a fighter. She is so incredibly special I can’t even put it into words ❤️ And YES, she is 100% going to be a regular feature on Patreon!
