I remember the Obama interview with Colbert when talking about what Obama wished for US politics. The answer Obama gave was that he wished for a more responsible GOP. He didn’t wish for a more progressive DNC or for less elite-driven politics. What he wished was for the idea to have Nixon’s GOP back that so the DNC could work with them.

Prior to that Hasan was criticized for being kind of centrist bordering on conservative and a bit of a "shock jock" so to say. However given that positioning it is concerning that he would be condemned so heavy handedly for being a dissenting voice. It's a sign the state is attempting to rapidly tighten its grip rather than Hasan being progressive himself, though we need all the help we can get so he gets a pass for saying the right thing for now

while I do align with a lot of his politics, he does have some really shitty takes (justifying Russia in the Ukraine occupation) and I think with all the success, money and platform he has he does too little to actually organize a movement, he only bandwagons onto other successful movements without being a driving force for change.

I think your critique is lacking as I view Piker as a Democratic Party entreeist and apologist for American Imperial War criminals like Graham Platner. The Democratic Party is not and never will be revolutionary and in fact are responsible for many of the great imperial genocides and crimes of our age. His constant scolding of anyone that brings up this contradiction is a clear sign of his capture by the Democratic Party apparatus.

The Red Scare is actually over 100 years old. It began because of the Russian Revolution right after the First World War in response to the burgeoning American labor movement. The next time it cropped up was after WWII. I have said that we are now dealing with a combined Red Scare and satanic panic (trans people and drag queens).
