idk why people are against the 50 year mortgage. get it, but pay as if its a 30 year with the extra going to principle this way you still pay it off in 30 years, dont pay extra in interest, but in the event something happens to you financially your minimum is much easier to handle

To be fair , I would take out a 50 year mortgage over renting any day , it would be a lot cheaper than the rent and when I die I could actually leave something , renting and owning nothing you leave behind nothing , thats the reason there are families which own no homes , grandfather rented, father rented ,you rent and your kids etc

You can get an interest only loan and pay off the principal on your own schedule, so the 50 year isn’t worse than that

It’s actually not a bad thing if your intent is to not own the home itself but to gain value overtime to afford the next down payment on a home and fully purchase that home.

so if most homes are already under a mortgage and always will be due to people moving constantly and now they want 50 year mortgages so all homes will be under a mortgage never to pay them off why dont we just cut out the middle man and socialise Housing and pay a smaller amount of intreast that will be used to keep homes updated and liveable instead of going into the pockets of the ultra rich banks
