I love beans with a level of passion that is frankly difficult to explain to normal people. Some people have hobbies. Some people have interests. Some people collect stamps, watch football, or spend their free time doing something respectable. Me? I have beans. Beans have become a fundamental part of my existence. I don’t simply eat beans. How can something so ordinary become so extraordinary? How can I possibly look at a bean and think, “Yes. This is exactly what I needed”? And yet I do. Every time. Beans have become more than food. Beans have become a philosophy. Beans have become an emotional support system. Beans have become a symbol of survival. Beans represent hope. Beans represent comfort. I love beans more than is probably reasonable. I love beans more than a person should be expected to explain. I love beans with the intensity of someone who has stared into the depths of existence and discovered, somehow, that the answer was beans. My love for beans is ridiculous. My love for beans is excessive. My love for beans is unnecessary. My love for beans is completely sincere. And if loving beans is ridiculous, then let me be ridiculous. If loving beans is excessive, then let me be excessive. If loving beans makes me strange, then I will proudly be strange. Because somewhere out there, there is a bean. And that bean is waiting. Waiting to save the day. Waiting to make the world slightly better. Waiting to remind me that life is worth living, meals are worth eating, and beans are worth loving. And I will be there. With complete devotion. With absolute gratitude. With a ridiculous amount of enthusiasm. Because I love my beans. And my beans love me. Probably. Maybe. I don’t know. They’re beans.
