We always get 3 or 4 or 5 appetizers instead of a couple of mains. More variety, better value. The desserts aren’t good value but if it was just about money you wouldn’t eat out, would you. Go crazy and get something you wouldn’t have at home.

Just go out and enjoy yourself. Don’t go to a place that you can’t afford and get what you want while you are there. Don’t try to out menu engineer the place who’s business is engineering a menu

OK, I eat out a lot, and I have noticed recently that a lot of restaurants here in Arizona, and I assume in places in the rest of the United States, are doing the European thing where they ask you if you want still or sparkling water, and you pay for the water. Now we’ve still been able here to say just tapwater is fine, but in Europe if they don’t do that so I assume that’s the direction they’re heading. And I assume they’re doing it because most people are not ordering sodas or iced tea because the prices of those have gotten so ridiculous, but the restaurant needs you to pay for a drink because they make a lot of money on it.
