For those who don’t know, I have 3 kids. 2 who enjoy playing basketball in my driveway. (Insert your gasp!) Our neighbor’s fence is very close to the property line and on occasion the ball goes over. The horror, I know. They will not let the kids in the yard, which is no problem. We don’t want to go in their yard—but we do want the ball back when they are able to give them back. They have attempted knocking on their door to get the ball, they have tried using a pool net to grab the balls, and other creative ways (think Sandlot the movie). Last month, my neighbors held their basketball for over a week in their garage before giving it back. It’s just who they are. So yesterday was the last day of school and our 10 year old had friends over. Naturally, a basketball and football go over. They went over to ask to grab the ball, rang the doorbell and the neighbor yelled at them through the doorbell to go away and get off her property. I simply asked the kids to leave the balls, ignore the neighbor and keep playing. Moments later, she’s interrupting my party to demand to talk to me. While i am clearly hosting a party. And…here ya go. This is what I deal with. But I am loving the fact that it’s recorded. LOVING. And don’t worry—I am unbothered. She doesn’t phase me at all. But I find so much joy in capturing this to share. 🤣🤷‍♀️❤️ UPDATE: After this incident, I left for the high school graduation. Party kept going with my husband and sister holding it down. One of the kids from the party called the police unbeknownst to the adults, as my neighbor began recording them (minors!) from her window (kids in my driveway just playing). And they all wanted the balls. So…police arrive. Husband is mortified. Sister is troubleshooting. Officers get our balls back and neighbors are pissed. One hell of an end of school year celebration. The funniest part to me were my 3 kids telling each other “Mom is going to be so mad when she gets home.” Mom wasn't mad—not the ideal situation but karma is rocking when a 10 year old thinks your behavior is bad enough to call the police.🤣 #neighbors #karen #kidsbelike #kids #kidsoftiktok #basketball #igotchu #girl #Summer #lastdayofschool
