Hey Jason, what do you think about the future of the manufacturing/prototyping industry? Does AI help create more opportunities by lowering the bar, or is it going to push more consolidation, squeezing out the little guys?

You do have to worry about who's using them. Someone with a vast larger network, but lack of ideas can take an idea that you discussed with them and quickly distribute throughout their own network. The key is you've got to develop your own network/customer base/self sustaining client base that you grow as you evolve your business. Sharing your ideas with larger companies and individuals with larger networks is just going to take away from your ability to gain your own customer base and build your own network.

how salty would you be if someone took your idea and patented it now you can produce your idea

So many patents never get manufactured on purpose. It’s parked for future residual income from law suits. Patents are way too broad. I have a German company challenging a trademarked name I chose and was awarded. It’s a pathetic system.

I'm worried about my QA teams getting left behind by my clause.enabled devs. so I've instituted extremely detailed skill requirements so that every line of code has 100% code coverage on unit testing.

Things are moving so fast but when you seek investors they are reluctant to invest if you don't have IP, that needs to change

BS, if you're building any kind of hardware of deeptech - because AI isn't capable of being creative, it can just reiterate.
And trade secrets are secret only until you enter the market

As the old ways become clunky, stale and obsolete, as ideas become cheap or free, our IP systems and interactions with each other will have to evolve. Or, we try to blockchain every microscopic idea and incur a baggage of slop that tends toward infinity, which I’m not a fan of. The future favors openness and generosity, even against the backdrop of some terminator-esque AI hellscape we all fear. Idk, thinking out loud to thousands of people has its risks but is worth doing.

Ive never cared for IP. I always liked chinas model of IP handling. they openly share it and help each other, I wish we were like that more so here in the US

If you haven't read Accelerando byCharles Stross., I highly recommend it. The first generation character operates as a "venture altruist". he generates and gives away innovative ideas freely to accelerate technological and social progress. He operates or is loosely associated with a sprawling, self-managing network of limited-liability companies that are largely autonomous. Many things in your post align with these ideas.
