i did this whilst shopping, i would chat non shot and one day i said " oh, we forgot ketchup, why didnt you remind me we need ketchup?" and this woman looked at me like id gone mad... like lady its either talk to the baby or talk to myself, which would you prefer

we made a decision that we were not gonna baby talk our baby, we did talk to her like this and now she's 11, all of her dibels are off the charts. she loves reading and doesnt stop telling us "imaginary things" and i love it. we have always gone to her level and tried to explain things the best way we could.

I am an early childhood educator. When I had my daughter I talked to her like this constantly. She’s 4 and at a recent assessment by a trained doctoral student she measured to have the vocabulary of a 13 year old.

I did this with my kids and I have always used big words and explained what they mean. None of them can stop talking now! Totally fine but be warned they will use phrases like, ‘decision making paradigm’ in the right context in kindergarten!
