This is the grey young Thoroughbred I found yesterday in the direct ship pen. She was standing there next to her friends, suffering—her leg swollen and infected, her face covered in blood from rubbing it. She needed help. But I saw her and I’m telling you right now: She needs a vet. She needs antibiotics. She needs a hospital. She needs a chance. She needs what was completely failed to her. I’ve had cases like this before. When the infection gets into the tendon sheath, you’re in a race against time. Horses like her are admitted into the hospital for weeks—30 days minimum—undergoing antibiotic lavages, daily treatments, and constant monitoring to keep the infection from reaching the joint. It’s costly. It’s time-consuming. But it saves their lives. Someone took her and threw her away because of this. They CHOSE not to seek medical attention and they legally can just throw her away because they didn’t want to do it. LEGALLY. To do right by her, we need to raise $8,000. Her purchase price alone was $1,080. Her hospital stay will be around $5,000—if not more. That doesn’t even begin to cover her post-hospital care, rehab, and retraining under saddle. This is a full commitment to her recovery. Because anything less is setting her up for failure and I refuse to do that. Not for her. Not for any of them. This is what it takes to undo what someone else did. This is the reality of rescue. It’s not just feed and love and second chances—it’s vet bills, it’s time, it’s painful choices, and it’s a community coming together to say we will not look away. Are you mad? You should be because I am. Every time I’m here. Every time I watch another discarded horse suffer for what humans did to them. Every time I have to beg and plead to raise money just to give them back the life they never should have lost in the first place. Everytime a person makes a comment I fundraised too much when in reality that’s what it takes and at the end of the day shouldn’t you be mad at the person who let her GET TO THIS DAMN POINT?! That it’s legal?! 💌 ᴅ̲ᴏ̲ɴ̲ᴀ̲ᴛ̲ɪ̲ᴏ̲ɴ̲s̲ ̲ᴄ̲ᴀ̲ɴ̲ ̲ʙ̲ᴇ̲ ̲ᴍ̲ᴀ̲ᴅ̲ᴇ̲ ̲ᴠ̲ɪ̲ᴀ̲:̲ paypal or donorbox
