@batoto.ba.kenya_0: Prince Nico Mbarga was primarily driven to write about parents because of the deep gratitude he felt for his mother’s sacrifices and the early musical guidance he received from his father. After his father passed away his mother worked as a peasant farmer and struggled immensely to provide for him which inspired him to write Sweet Mother as an autobiography of her care. His father also played a major role in his inspiration by introducing him to the radio and teaching him the xylophone when he was a child. Beyond just personal stories he used his music to address social themes such as the partnership between parents in a household and the tensions that can arise between traditional parental expectations and the personal choices of their children.
