In the security footage, two boys are playing soccer inside a residential building courtyard. A strong kick causes a metal gate to swing open. One boy, dressed in black, walks over to it. His intention is simple — to close the gate so the ball won’t go outside. But the moment his hand touches the metal handle… everything changes. His body instantly stiffens. He collapses toward the direction of the closing gate. This is not a normal loss of balance. An electric current has entered his body, causing his muscles to contract… and locking him in place. He cannot let go. This is a clear sign of electrocution. At that moment, the second boy notices something is wrong and runs over to help. But he is only reacting on instinct — he does not yet realize his friend is being electrocuted. The instant he touches his friend… he is shocked and thrown backward. If you look closely, only his right hand is affected — the hand that made direct contact with exposed skin that was carrying the current. His left hand, which touched the back through clothing, is not affected in the same way. The clothing provides slight insulation. A small detail — but extremely important. Fortunately, the second boy does not touch the metal gate. If he did, both of them could have been trapped in the electric current. Realizing the situation, he quickly changes his approach. He lowers his body… and forcefully pulls his friend’s leg away from the source of electricity. That single decision, made in just a few seconds… saves his friend’s life. However, this action is still extremely dangerous, because he used his bare hands. In situations like this, a safer method would be to look for insulating materials nearby — such as wood, plastic… or even clothing. If nothing else is available, you can remove your shirt and use it to pull the victim away. Clothing can act as a barrier, and is much safer than direct skin contact. There have been many cases where people rushed to help with bare hands… and ended up becoming victims themselves, trapped by the same electric current. The lesson here is simple: In an electric shock situation, it’s not just about acting fast it’s about acting correctly.
