@gumptiongirl14: never let them know your next move I’m not orthodox. I’m not Romanian. But I am curious. As someone who admires the simplicity and discipline of nunhood, I took the opportunity to stay at a monastery earlier this month. For a week, I dressed as a nun and followed their schedule (the best i could). Everyone there was incredibly receptive to me, and all of the Mothers were gracious enough to show me around. For some, I was the first American and first Asian person they ever met. A large part of my role as a citizen diplomat abroad has been sharing about my life back home in California and debunking common misconceptions about Americans. I’m so grateful for my host mom for helping arrange this trip and for my roommate, who helped translate & answer my many questions about orthodoxy. To be as intentional and respectful as possible, I asked multiple nuns for permission before posting and showed them the video(s) in advance. Never thought I’d say this, but stay tuned for more nun content! # #
