I’ve walked all over Pompeii. It felt so modern to me. I left feeling like we’ve barely done things any better than the Romans.

The jars were fixed in the counter & stews were served from some of them. Were they like Medieval perpetual stews? Just keep topping them up? I can’t see how they could be cleaned. I guess if you lived to adulthood in ancient times you must have a robust gut biome & immune system.
