A big example is Brigitte Bardot. People praised her so much for being vegan and an animal rights activist, yet she was also a known racist who supported far-right French politicians and expressed strongly Islamophobic and xenophobic views. Her actions led to six separate convictions in French courts for inciting racial hatred between 1997 and 2021. Her own son has also spoken about the horrible abuse he experienced growing up. Despite all of that, many people still act like she was an amazing person simply because she was vegan and involved in animal rights activism, even though she supported harm toward other people. 😭
