When we were young, I bought my wife a LV bag for her birthday. She smiled, gave me a kiss, and said thank you. She then the following day returned it, had the refund placed back in our account, went to Dillard’s, bought a 1/4 of the cost Dooney & Bourke, and had that same bag all the way up to last year when our daughter gave her a Loungefly pack pack for Mother’s Day. When I asked why, she said, we don’t need to over pay for perceived name brand luxury for her to be happy. She was thankful that I cared enough and she cared enough to be practical. I actually learned a lot from that. That said I will always patron self proprietary craftsmanship of a small business if the quality is there.
