Probably you know it already, but the Duffers said many times Steve was originally supposed to die in season 1, before they knew the show would have been renewed for other seasons. So, if your thought process is correct, maybe Dustin knows both Jonathan and Steve play key roles in the story. Maybe he prevented both their deaths: in this scene he prevents Jonathan's death and later on Steve's. Could have Dustin introduced Eddie to the party because his sacrifice is the key to prevent Steve's death. Idk, but your video made my spyral in this rabbia hole 😭
