@ranch_rumors: Meet “Fig” — my temporary name for this handsome Dalmatian boy we pulled from the pound on Wednesday. Adult rescue dogs don’t magically come home knowing: 🐾 crate manners 🐾 potty routines 🐾 how to self-soothe 🐾 that humans actually come back For many shelter dogs, the crate can feel scary before it feels safe. That’s why I focus on making the crate predictably positive… not punishment. One of my favorite tools right now? Freezeballs. Cold enrichment gives dogs something productive to do, helps burn nervous energy, encourages licking (which can be naturally calming), and helps teach that crate time = good things happen here. With adult rescues, progress usually looks like: ✔ shorter accidents ✔ less barking ✔ longer periods of calm ✔ choosing rest instead of panic It’s not always pretty… but it’s worth it. Follow along as Fig learns that a crate isn’t confinement… it’s his own little safe place. 🖤 #RescueDog #CrateTraining #Dalmatian #DogRehab #canineenrichmentideas
